1966 Wolseley 16/60 £9,995

An impeccable example of a 1966 Wolseley 1660, having had just three former keepers in its entire life, and having covered just 64,000 miles, all documented by a full binder of old service records and historic MOT certificates.

Wolseley's 15/60 model was replaced by the Wolseley 16/60 in September 1961, and for some buyers, the most important change was the availability of a Borg Warner 35 automatic transmission.

Buyers opting for the four-speed manual gearbox version were often disappointed to find that the 1961 16/60 still came without a synchromesh on first gear, all the more so since by this time all-synchromesh gear-boxes were the norm for most competitor vehicles in the UK.

No such worries with this car's automatic box.

Viewed from the outside, the Wolseley 16/60 differed from the 15/60 in its overriders on the bumpers, protruding more than on its predecessor, and the plastic mouldings on the rear lights were also modified, along with the rear fins, now much reduced in their sharpness to give a more sober-looking high-end family car.

This particular car spent several years of its early life in the Newark area of Nottinghamshire, with paperwork confirming its servicing and garage repairs in the vicinity.

The Wolseley paintwork is in excellent order all-round with a deep all-over shine, set off with nice sharp front wings, and rare in cars of this age, immaculate wheel arches and door bottoms, the brightwork also in fabulous condition.

The interior is also in supreme good condition, as the photos show, though the upmarket comfort and properness of all the fixtures and fittings isn't so easy to convey in images or even words.

This magnificent Wolseley 16/60 quite simply ticks all the boxes, a fine example of the cream of the Farina range, and all in all a rare opportunity to own such a carefully-cherished low-mileage example.
