The car has performed faultlessly during his ownership and is only being sold because happily the gentleman has now finally located the actual car he received as a present from his parents!
The previous custodian owned the 240 for over thirty years and during this time the car was maintained fastidiously by an ex-Jaguar apprentice-turned-engineer. The car was used regularly on local runs and was only sold when he hung up his spanners once and for all.
Mechanically this 240 starts on the button, and it drives very well - as might be expect from a car cosseted for the past 30 years - and the straight six soundtrack is utterly addictive.
The body has never required restoration, though received a new coat of paint in the original colour ('Jaguar Powder Blue') around 20 years ago and consequently the car now presents very well with just the odd light blemish commensurate with light use and plenty of love.
The interior oozes 1960s refinement and charm. The roof lining, seats, wood dashboard, doors, etc all have a lovely feel and smell that instantly transports passengers back to 1968. It is the perfect environment for any classic car enthusiast. Slipping behind the steering wheel is like travelling back in time.
Offered at a very sensible price in one of the best colours, with strong mechanicals and a lovely interior, the car recently underwent a full service, including new oil and air filters, spark plugs and antifreeze, with a full carburettor tune-up also performed. All greasing nipples have been greased, all brakes inspected and adjusted where necessary.
The car comes with lots of previous history, including old MOT certificates, V5's and service invoices, plus a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate included.
